When he's in his late teens, Percy's family is visited by a couple from Wildemount, and the de Rolos' hospitality is met with violence. After his parents and most of his siblings are murdered in front of him, Percy is imprisoned in his home's dungeon and tortured until his hair turns white, for reasons he doesn't fully understand at the time. Eventually, he manages to escape with his youngest sister, then loses her as well. He's alone and traumatized, having been betrayed by people he'd trusted implicitly.

After two years spent surviving on the fringes of society, Percy dreams of a cloud of smoke that promises him the means for revenge against the people who destroyed his family. When he wakes, he designs and begins to build his first pepperbox, a black-powder firearm and the first gun his world has known. They have since become his signature weapon...and the cloud of smoke, it turns out, is a demon with an increasing hold on his consciousness.

Armed with a weapon, he pursues one of the conspirators in his family's destruction but fails to kill her, ending up in jail instead. A group of mercenaries called Vox Machina finds him there, beside the corpse of a cultist they were sent to retrieve. Percy's straightforward honesty impresses them enough that they take him with them instead - and for the first time in a long time, he has allies to speak of.

When his family's murderers become acquainted with the sovereign of their continent, Percy and Vox Machina are forced to confront his past. Returning to his home of Whitestone, they hunt down and take out the conspirators who destroyed his life...and Percy begins to lose control. Vengeance feeds the demon possessing him and makes him increasingly erratic. Eventually, they're able to take down the architects of his family's annihilation, but when the time comes to strike the final blow, Percy realizes he can't do it. His youngest sister, miraculously alive, ends up doing so.

In the process, Whitestone is made safe once more, and Percy and his friends go on to more terrible adventures...but a loose thread remains. The woman he failed to kill years ago still lives, and Percy's pursuit of her ends with his death at her hands. While he's dead, his lover ends up finishing the job for him, achieving his final revenge, and is instrumental in bringing him back to life. With his revival, Percy finally has some measure of peace for the first time since he was a boy.

Percy transforms into a white-scaled wyvern with sightless, blue-white eyes. His form is around ten feet long, and a solid four feet of that length can be described as tail. He has two thick legs with three sharp talons on each foot; like most wyverns, he is armless, but he does possess a set of huge, leathery wings with thumb-claws similar to a bat's. Using those claws and his teeth - razor sharp and likely full of nasty diseases - he can grasp and hold prey as needed.

While his form cannot see beyond a broad sense of "light there, shadow there," its senses of scent and hearing are extremely sharp, and he's capable of using a form of echolocation to move safely. He is capable of flight and - not unlike a bird of prey - can swoop down from the sky, capture someone in his claws, and fly off to another location to enjoy his catch.

His intelligence is preserved, but every safeguard he has against committing unnecessary cruelty is gone. He's ultimately an animal, seeking prey of whatever kind he requires in that moment. He's driven as much by lust as by hunger, provided he catches the scent of someone appealing, and his anatomy includes a barbed cock.
